Dear Declan,

You are officially fully mobile.  It only took two days for you to go from awkwardly trying to take steps to full on walking and making laps around the house.  You were so happy once you realized you could make it on your own two feet.  It really was truly astonishing how quickly you caught on and mastered your balance.  At first you would only walk to Mama, then the dogs and now anything that catches your eye (remote controls, Dad, the iPad, anything really).  Additionally, the stairs hold no mystery for you anymore.  You walk over to the landing, plop down on your rump, turn around and guide yourself using one leg and take each step at a time. It's really uncanny how well you can navigate things!

We have battened down all the hatches, so to speak, because you get into EVERYTHING.  The first thing you broke was an old pottery barn analog clock (thankfully we didn't really rely on it and it wasn't functioning already) and also, you didn't get hurt!  You started by standing and sitting on your own without holding onto anything, as long as mama was close by, then taking a few steps towards me and laughing the entire time.  The dogs were also a good enticing goal. (Sorry Dad!) The dogs are finally warming up to your antics now as well, they are very tolerant of your pestering them, thankfully.

This is also something that has become a bit of a challenge, you're officially a mama's boy for now.  I cannot leave the room or transfer you to someone else, even Daddy.  You've got it bad for Kim at daycare as well. Or, as I like to call her, your work mama.  Haha.

You eat like a champ! Some of your current favorite foods are plums and cheerios. Begone to all of the purees I've tried to give you, unless you can eat it by yourself, I don't bother. Lest you tell me "No!" by shaking your head no and laughing up a storm.

We had a nice short trip to visit your Great Grandparents and Grandparents.  They were so excited to see you and see how much you've grown in the last few months.  It truly is mind blowing. One of the adventures we had in Ohio was introducing you to lemons.  It was so funny, you have been reaching for my glass for (well as long as I can remember) and with that whatever is inside of it.  Well, that day it was lemons and you grabbed one yourself. We were lucky enough to catch it on video too! Once you tried it the first time, you ham, and heard us laughing you kept repeating it over and over again to garner a laugh from everyone!  Then you decided it was my turn... Yup, you fed me lemon, so I obliged and gave you a grimace.

So far the words you know and use are: Mama, Da (Dad), Ca (Car), Gah (Dog),  and Ba (Bottle). I am still trying to decipher the rest...
